Staff was very friendly, nice location, nice breakfast

It was not the first time we spent here and it was always very nice here. However, this time there were some issues with the room: second key card did not work although it was reprogrammed and replaced a couple of times, the light in the entrance and the coffee mashine did not work, bathtub drain was leaking. Also the pool temperature was rather cold this time.

A beautiful but pricey option to stay when visiting Aken (and its Christmas market)

The beautiful and "rustgevende" location was magnificent, with its small lake and river, the park and nature around, and it's interesting to learn a bit more about the castle's history as well. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and quiet. There is a nice little cosy bar in the hotel as well, which serves great pie. Also, the breakfast was marvellous and staff were very friendly, too.

- The accommodation was quite pricey compared to what you received in return, but still better than prices in the city of Aken during a Christmas market weekend. - Our rooms unfortunately were not ready by the check-in time communicated beforehand (14:30), because of this we had to wait for about 45 minutes to check into our rooms and that cost us some valuable Christmas market time - for this price we would have expected our rooms to be fully ready in time - The pool was too cold to use for young children - although we fully support the efforts to reduce energy consumption if that is the reason, perhaps this is something to be taken into consideration in the future.

Nice if you like hiking or cycling and some luxury. Recommended!

Hotel is a few kms outside the village of Vaals. Nice area for hiking or cycling. It is pretty standard luxury, nothing that will surprise you. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food in the bar and restaurant was nice! We walked to the Lodge for lunch and went to Voncken in Vaals to buy delicious 'vlaaien'.

Some of the electric car chargers did not ... charge. Little to complain about or it must be the lack of lights in the room. I find out booking via Booking.com is cheaper than via the hotel directly. Limited selection of beers in the bar.

Wonderful

Very nice and quite location, beautiful castle, very good breakfast.

We droven our E Auto but could not recharge it in hotel without vattenfall member card and hotel could not help it. There is no Info mentioned on Hotel website that guest needs to have a special card to recharge the car. Finally I found solution to download vattenfall chargein App and register with credit card to recharge my car.

Almost like a real castle

The place is nicely decorated for xmas, peaceful and quiet. Swimming pool is good (though could a bit warmer), but you should bring your own bathrobe. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.

Pillows are too big to sleep well. Dinner options are very limited.

Good stay but could be better

Great breakfast, beautiful location, close to nature. Restaurant on site serving pretty good food. Beds were very comfortable and the quality of the sheets was excellent. Staff at reception were very attentive and kind. We asked for an extra blanket and they brought it to our room immediately.

.Rooms are a bit outdated (decoration, furniture, etc) for the price/category of the hotel. The room was freezing when we arrived (it was very cold outside and the heating -which had to be adjusted manually- was off. It took a while for the room to get to an acceptable temperature. We were placed in a room tgat had a closed door connecting with another room. Our neighbours were quite noisy... And they kept us "entertained" until late at night. Please improve the isolation of rooms...

Nice setting. Nice, large rooms. Great breakfast. Nice staff.

We heard a lot of noises in our room (the room was located beside the lift and street) and in our opinion the matrass wasn't that comfortable. We also expected more well-being facilities (hammam, jacuzzi).

Relaxing vacation

Nice room with view and a babling brook outside patio. Breakfast was excellent. Staff friendly and attentive (see below) Lovely country location but easy access to visit sites. Plenty of parking on property

We were disappointed that the fireplace was out of order. Our first evening the sauna was cold. The pool temperature was also a bit cold. We thought the spa was heated, but it is the same cool temperature as the pool. Cafe staff in the afternoon were not attentive and would disappear for long periods of time. Our first afternoon, we waited twenty minutes. Our patio furniture had ripped chairs. I switched ours with an empty room next door. The light to the patio was not working and we assume comes on automatically if operating.

Cat-friendly-est hotel I've stayed at

Quiet, nature around, great place for people looking to bike in nature, very helpful staff, fitness and pool area are nice, dinners at their restaurant and their bistro were very good. One particular thing we liked they were VERY cat-friendly - they had a special sign signaling to cleaning staff to not enter, and we were asked to let them know when to come clean.

Very nitpicky, but we stayed 4 days, and breakfast was just ok. Not a great selection of vegetables, only cherry tomatoes and mini cucumbers, but they looked almost ready to go bad - either squishy or dried. Fruit almost frozen on a couple occasions, so they weren't freshly cut. Otherwise good selection of yoghurt/granola or pastries.

Location, grounds and pool/sauna. Staff were friendly and helpful. The groundskeeper was like a personal guide with plenty of interesting facts about the estate.

We missed a cozy lounge for coffee in the morning.
